Today, once more albeit shortly about BattleTech BattleMats.
Przede wszystkim dojechała kolejna mata. Tym razem to wersja Savannah/Grasslands. Zielona strona to mapy Open Terrain #3 i Streams z MapPacka: Grasslands. Na odwrocie mamy część pustynno-roślinną. Co do jakości i wykonania nie mam żadnych zarzutów.
First of all, the next mat arrived. This time it's the Savannah / Grasslands one. The green side are the Open Terrain # 3 and Streams maps from Mappack: Grasslands. On the reverse we have a desert-plantish side. As for quality and performance, I have no complaints.
Drobny zgrzyt pojawił się jednak kiedy postanowiłem sprawdzić jak maty łączą się ze sobą. Po długiej krawędzi występuje nieznaczne przesunięcie. Gorzej wygląda to jeśli chcemy łączyć maty po krótkiej krawędzi. To mogło zostać zrobione lepiej.
A slight dissonance appeared, however, when I decided to check how the mats connect with each other. There is a slight shift along the long edge of the mats. It looks worse if we want to link mats using their short edge. This should've been done better.
Przy okazji poszperałem nieco po sieci, kto jeszcze robi heksowe maty do grania, które pasowałyby do BattleTecha. Aby pasować mata powinna mieć naniesioną siatkę heksagonalną przynajmniej o średnicy 1,25". Oto co udało mi się wyszukać:
Deep Cut Studios - 3 rodzaje wersji kolorystycznych, 2 rozmiary, 3 różne materiały do wyboru.
TableWar - może to nie mata per se ale nakładka z siatką heksagonalną którą można nałożyć na inną matę.
Strato Minis Studio - 3 rodzaje mat, i kilka rodzajów dodatków do nich. Niestety aktualnie brak w ofercie.
Playmaty - Winylowe maty zmazywalne. Niestety heks jest za mały - tylko 1".
Steel Warrior Studios - robione na zamówienie, 3 rodzaje kolorów, możliwość wyboru dwóch wielkości heksów, oraz dokupienia dodatkowych wzgórz wydrukowanych w 3D.
Monday Knight Productions - Pięć rodzajów terenu ale heksy tylko 1,5" i 2".
Jest jeszcze HotzMats gdzie robią maty filcowe - ale chyba chwilowo są poza biznesem.

I also searched a bit around the www for other companies that make hex gaming mats that would fit BattleTech. To match, the mat should have a hexagonal mesh of at least 1.25 "in diameter. Here's what I found:
Deep Cut Studios - 3 types of color versions, 2 sizes, 3 different materials to choose from.
TableWar - maybe not a mat per se, but an overlay with a hexagonal mesh that can be applied to another mat.
Strato Minis Studio - 3 types of mats and several types of accessories for them. Unfortunately, currently not on offer.
Playmaty.pl - Vinyl erasable mats. Unfortunately the hex is too small - only 1 ".
Steel Warrior Studios - made to order, 3 types of colors, possibility to choose two sizes of hexes, and purchase additional hills printed in 3D.
Monday Knight Productions - Five terrain types but only 1.5 "and 2" hexes.
There is also HotzMats - who make felt hex mats - but I think they're temporarily out of business.
