Contrast test - Word of Blake Level II

Korzystając z tygodnia słomianego wdowca, postanowiłem przetestować nowy produkt malarski od Głównego Wydawcy, czyli Contrast Paint. Dla celów testu użyłem figurek z Lance Packów i zrobiłem z nich Poziom II Słowa Blake'a złożony z jednostek zdobycznych lub przekonstruowanych na blakistowskie warianty. Przydadzą mi się do kampanii Scrap Raiders.

Taking advantage of the fact my wife and daughter went on vacation, I decided to test a new painting product from Games Workshop, that is the Contrast Paints. For the purposes of the test, I used some Lance Pack minis and made them into a Word of Blake Level II made up of captured or rebuilt into Blakist variants units. They'll be useful for my Scrap Raiders campaign.

When it comes to painting , I used the CamoSpecs method, which can be viewed here.

W skrócie to biały podkład, dwie warstwy kremowego koloru (Brainmatter Beige AP), na to Contrast Apothecary White, a jak wyschnie drybrush białym (Matt White AP). Poźniej szczegóły metalikami, kokpit (nienawidzę ostatnio tego robić), laserki i gotowe. Zostały mi tylko podstawki jeszcze.

In short, it is done on a white basecoat, two layers of cream color (Brainmatter Beige AP), Contrast Apothecary White, and when its dry, drybrush with white (Matt White AP). Next metallic details, cockpit (I hate to do this lately), lasers and it's ready. I still have the stands to finish.

Contrasty reklamowane są jako farba, która jednocześnie robi za kolor bazowy, cieniowanie i rozjaśnianie. Co ma przyśpieszać malowanie i wystawianie armii. Trzeba ją kłaść najlepiej na jasne podkłady (biały, szary). Generalnie to taki nieco gęstszy, mocniej pigmentowany wash. Malujemy od góry do dołu, uważając żeby nie zebrał się nam gdzieś w jednym miejscu bo zostanie plama. Kolor bazowy i cieniowanie wychodzi ok. Z tym rozjaśnianiem to chyba nie tak do końca, ale to może być kwestia że chciałem osiągnąć kolor biały przez co drybrush był wymagany. Mam jeszcze zielony i niebieski do testów więc zobaczymy jak wyjdą inne kolory.

Contrast Paints are advertised as paints that does a base color, shading and highlighting in one go. Which is supposed to speed up painting and displaying the army. It is best to put it on light basecoats (white, gray). Generally it is a bit thicker, more pigmented wash. We paint from top to bottom, taking care that the paint does not pool anywhere in one place because it will leave a stain. The base color and shading comes out ok. With highlights it's probably not quite right, but it may be a question that I wanted to achieve the white color for which a drybrush was required. I still have green and blue for testing so we'll see how other colors come out.

A tak prezentują się (niemal) gotowe. Jak na materiał i standard tabletop prezentują się nieźle. Nie planuję zdobywać nimi Złotego Wydymona. I muszę nabyć nowe pędzle.

And this is how they look (almost) ready. For the material and the tabletop standard, they look pretty good. I'm not planning to win the Golden Demon with them. And I have to buy new brushes.
