Scrap Raiders - Rozgrzebując mrowisko/Scrap Raiders - Stirring the anthill

W sobotę 30.03 po raz kolejny spotkaliśmy się w pubie K6 w Łodzi, aby rozegrać nową misję w kampanii Scrap Raiders, na podstawie podręcznika Total Chaos. Tym razem najemnicy zmierzyli się z siłami Klanu Kotów Nova. Zapraszam do krótkiego raportu z bitwy.

On Saturday 30.03 we once again met to play a new mission in the Scrap Raiders campaign, based on the Total Chaos book. This time, the mercenaries faced the forces of the Nova Cat Clan. Below you have a short After Action Report.

 - Jesteśmy prawie na miejscu - zameldował Jones. Jego głos brzmiał nieco metalicznie. Efekt odniesionych pół roku wcześniej obrażeń i rekonstrukcji krtani. - Odbieram sygnały od oddziału DEST.
- Mam złe wieści. - na kanale kompanii odezwała się Michiko - Udało się mi dowiedzieć, że w ćwiczeniach weźmie udział rój 1st Nova Cat Guards. Ci goście są dobrzy... bardzo dobrzy. Uważajcie tam na siebie...
- KONTAKTY!! Dwa, nie... trzy Bravo Mikes! - zagłuszył ją Crocker - Czujniki sejsmiczne wskazują na dwa ciężkie i jeden lżejszy cel.
- Raiders!! Odbezpieczyć broń i przyśpieszyć do prędkości bojowej. - rozkazał Kloss - Dołóżmy im, ale pamiętajcie że mamy zdobyć kilku żywcem. To w końcu... ćwiczenia...

We're almost there - reported Jones. His voice sounded a bit metallic. The effect of the injuries received six months earlier, and further laryngeal reconstruction. - I'm receiving signals from the DEST team.
- I got bad news. - Michiko spoke on the company channel - I was able to find out that a 1st Nova Guards cluster will take part in the exercises. These guys are good... very good. Watch out for yourself out there...
- CONTACTS!! Two, no ... three Bravo Mikes! - Crocker drowned her out - Seismic sensors indicate two heavy and one light targets.
- Raiders !! Weapons hot and accelerate to combat speed. - commanded Kloss - Hit them hard, but remember that we need some alive. It's only... exercises...

W tej misji Scrap Raiders mieli za zadanie umożliwić ucieczkę oddziałowi DEST w pancerzach Kage (DEST). Oddział ten zaczynał po drugiej stronie planszy niż najemnicy. Dodatkowymi zadaniami było wyłączenie z walki (bez zniszczenia) najnowszej konstrukcji Kotów (Ocelota), zdobycie żywcem przynajmniej trzech Mechawojowników Klanów, wykonanie przez oddział DEST przynajmniej jednego skutecznego ataku przeciwMechowego no i zniszczenie/wyłączenie z walki wszystkich sił przeciwnika. Graliśmy na mapach  Rolling Hills #1, Desert Hills, Woodland, Open Terrain #1.


In this mission, the Scrap Raiders were tasked with helping a DEST unit in the Kage (DEST) battle armor to escape from the Nova Cats.  This unit started the game on the other side of the board than the mercenaries. Additional objectives were to cripple (without destroying) the latest Cats' Mech (the Ocelot), capturing alive at least three Clan Mechwarriors for interrogation, execution of at least one effective anti-mech attack by the DEST squad and destroying/crippling all opponent's forces. We used Rolling Hills # 1, Desert Hills, Woodland, Open Terrain # 1 maps.

Koty Nova wkraczają do akcji/Nova Cats enter the fray

Raidersi ruszyli środkiem planszy. Wzgórzami na swojej prawej flance kroczyli BattleMaster i Highlander, w centrum Bandersnatch i Cataphract a po lewej Victor. Oddział DEST rozpoczął skoki od osłony do osłony w kierunku najemników. W drugiej turze na planszę wkroczyły pierwsze Mechy Klanów. Nova Cat zaczął wspinać się na wzgórze aby mieć dobre pole do ostrzału ze swoich dwóch ER PPC i trzech dużych laserów ER, środkiem szybki Executioner D z MASC i baterią laserów pulsacyjnych, a naprzeciw Victora pędził Ocelot wyposażony w najnowszą broń Klanów - duży ciężki laser.

Pierwsza krew należała zdecydowanie do Klanów. Mimo standardowej już taktyki Raidersów, czyli podpalania lasów i tworzenia zasłony dymnej, już pierwszy strzał z Nova Cata trafił krytycznie w korpus Highlandera, ale uszkodził tylko jeden z pulsacyjnych laserów. Skupiony na prowadzeniu dalekosiężnego ognia Victor zlekceważył nadbiegającego Ocelota, który strzałem z ciężkiego lasera spalił mu głowę.

The Raiders began in the middle of their board edge. On the hills on their right flank marched the  BattleMaster and the Highlander, with the Bandersnatch and the Cataphract in the center, and Victor on the left. The DEST unit began jumping from one cover to the other towards the mercenaries. In the second round, the first Clan Mechs entered the board. The Nova Cat began climbing up the hill to have a good range of fire from its two ER PPCs and three ER large lasers. The fast Executioner D with MASC and a pulse laser battery moved in the middle, and the Ocelot equipped with the latest Clan weapon - a large heavy laser - flanked on the left.

The first blood belonged definitely to the Clans. Despite the Raiders standard tactics, meaning setting  the forests on fire and creating a smokescreen, the first shot from Nova Cat hit the Highlander center torso critically, but it damaged only one of his pulse lasers. Focused on leading long-range fire, Victor neglected the oncoming Ocelot who burnt his head with a heavy laser shot.

Jednakże pilot Ocelota poczuł się zbyt pewnie po swoim zwycięstwie i miast odskoczyć, ruszył do przodu, próbując szczęścia z Cataphractem. Ale tam nadział się na skoncentrowany ostrzał z Cataphracta, Bandersnatcha i Highlandera, którzy wyłączyli go z akcji rozbijając trzy sloty silnika XL. Executioner zdesantował piechotę pancerną na skraju lasu, a sam ruszył na Bandersnatcha. Raidersi jednak nie przejmowali się zellbrigen i rozstrzelali go w pojedynku na bliskie odległości. Po czym wystrzelali oddział Żywiołów, który spudłowali ze wszystkich swoich rakiet.

Pilot Nova Cata, widząc taką sytuację, zdecydował się zejść z góry, przy czym odstrzelił jedną z powracających do walki Kage. Następnie, ryzykując awaryjne wyłączenie reaktora, wystrzelił ze wszystkich luf w BattleMastera i Bandersnatcha. Bandersnatch przetrwał, ale jeden z ER PPC pozbawił BattleMastera głowy, wysyłając jego pilota na przymusową i długą rekonwalescencję.

However, the Ocelot's pilot felt too confident after his victory, instead jumping back, he rushed forward, trying his luck with Cataphract. But there he received concentrated fire from the Cataphract, Bandersnatch and Highlander, who put him out of action by smashing three XL engine slots. The Executioner deployed his battle armored infantry on the edge of the forest, and moved against the Bandersnatch. Raiders, however, did not care about zellbrigen and crushed him in a close distance firefight. Then they destroyed the Elementals, who missed with all their missiles.

The Nova Cat pilot, observing the situation, decided to go down the hill, killing one of Kage returning to the fight. Then, risking an emergency shutdown, he fired all his weapons at the BattleMaster and Bandersnatch. Bandersnatch withstood the attack, but one of the ER PPC destroyed the BattleMaster  head, sending its pilot to a forced and long recuperation.

Alpha Strike!!

Alpha strike pozbawił jednak Nova Cata mobilności, zaś kontra przeciwników zniszczyła jeden z jego laserów. Ogień Bandersnatcha wyłączał z użycia kolejne chłodnice Klanowego Mecha i coraz trudniej było mu się bronić. W końcu przeciwMechowy atak w nogi przeprowadzony przez DEST oraz koncentracja ognia Raidersów, spowodowała odstrzelenie ramienia z ER PPC oraz nogi, przez co Nova Cat zwalił się na ziemię. Raidersi sądzili że zwycięstwo mają już w garści, ale wtedy na ich tyłach pojawili się kolejni przeciwnicy.

That alpha strike, however, deprived the Nova Cat of mobility, while opponents destroyed one of its lasers. Bandersnatch's fire destroyed the Clan Mech heat-sinks one by one and it was becoming increasingly difficult for him to defend himself. In the end, the anti-leg attack carried out by DEST and the concentration of the Raiders' fire caused the ER PPC arm and leg to be destroyed, causing the Nova Cat to fall to the ground. Raiders thought that the victory was already in their grip, but then more enemies appeared at their rear.

Klanowe posiki/Clan reinforcements

Wzgórzami kroczył kolejny Nova Cat, tym razem w wersji A z czterema dużymi laserami ER podpiętymi pod komputer celowniczy, środkiem kolejny Ocelot, z Huntsmanem w wersji D na lewej flance. Widząc nadejście posiłków pilot pierwszego Nova Cata, powstał jeszcze raz do ostatecznego starcia, ale kolejne trafienia Bandersnatcha ostatecznie rozbiły mu silnik XL.

Przed większymi kłopotami Raidersów uratowała zdolność Overrun Combat. Strzałem z LB-20Xa kapitan Kloss rozbił korpus drugiego Ocelota, zanim ten zdołał skutecznie użyć swojego ciężkiego lasera. Ścigany celnymi strzałami laserów Nova Cata i rakiet ATM z Huntsmana, Cataphract Raidersów umknął za wzgórze tuż obok wraku BattleMastera i pierwszego Nova Cata.

Another Nova Cat marched on the hills, this time in version A with four ER large lasers attached to a targeting computer, followed by another Ocelot in the center, and a Huntsman D on the left flank. Seeing their arrival the first Nova Cat pilot, rose again for the final fight, but subsequent hits from the Bandersnatch ultimately crippled his XL engine.

The Raiders were saved from bigger problems by their Overrun Combat ability. With a LB-20X shot, Captain Kloss destroyed the torso of the other Ocelot before he could successfully use his heavy laser. Pursued by accurate shots of Nova Cat lasers and ATM missiles from Huntsman, the Raiders Cataphract escaped past the hill next to the BattleMaster and first Nova Cat wrecks.

Przed ostatecznym starciem/ Before the final showdown

Do ataku ruszył więc Huntsman wspierany dalekosiężnym, ale celnym ogniem Nova Cata A. Przenoszona przez niego piechota pancerna osłoniła go przed pierwszymi atakami Bandersnatcha i Highlandera, ale tu znów zadziałała zasada Overrun Combat i w końcu Klanowy Mech padł po zaliczeniu trafienia z LB-20Xa i rakiet Streak w plecy i kolejnych trafień z LB-10Xów Bandersnatcha od przodu. Eliminacja pozostałych dwóch Żywiołów nie sprawiła już większego kłopotu. Drugi z Nova Catów wycofał się ciągle się ostrzeliwując, ale bez dokonania żadnych znaczących zniszczeń. Choć dzięki temu Raidersi nie dostali bonusa w wypłacie.

So the Huntsman assaulted, supported by long range but accurate fire from the Nova Cat A. The armored infantry shielded him from the first attacks of Bandersnatch and Highlander, but again the Raiders used the Overrun Combat rule and the Clan Mech fell after receiving hits with the LB-20X and Streak missiles in the back and subsequent hits from Bandersnatch LB-10Xs from the front. Then the elimination of the other two Elementals did not cause much trouble. The other Nova Cat withdrew shooting constantly, but without causing any significant damage. Although thanks to this, the Raiders did not receive a bonus in payment.

Zabawa była jak zwykle przednia, obfitująca w niespodziewane zwroty akcji i mordercze headshoty. Zobaczymy dokąd Scrap Raiders polecą następnym razem.

The game was fun as usual, full of unexpected twists and murderous headshots. We'll see where the Scrap Raiders fly next time.
